Styling | Art direction
Photographer Nick Aldridge approached me with a project in mind about a story of a family living out in the wilderness and rehabilitating African birds of prey. The creative direction drew inspiration from the culture of American Victorianism in the late 1800s.
I dreamt of using my friend Dennis (from Radical Raptors), his family and friends and their collection of birds of prey as characters in a series of photographs. As with all my work, I search for images that have the quality of have possibly been made in the distant past. To this end, I engaged Dominique to source vintage clothing and props that reinforced this aesthetic but also had a strong American Gothic feeling, and the classic simplicity that always defines her style. This project would not have been half as successful without her insight, style, focus and attention to detail.
